I have followed crypto technology very closely since 2016. And polkadots new JAM upgrade is unbelievably better than anything else coming to market soon.Polkadots JAM upgrade turns Polkadot from a simple layer 0 chain that can only host Parachains. into the world’s first actually Decentralized Super Computer. Meaning it can run literally any application in the world, just like a normal computer.But how? JAM allows Polkadot to host “Services” a word I think crypto will soon be very familiar with. These JAM Services can be absolutely anything. From simple Python code scripts, entire Layer 1 chains, entire layer 2 chains, DEXs, Ai models, actual entire video games (video steaming and all). The point is JAM services are designed to be as flexible as regular computing environments, and it’s because JAM can run 64bit applications just like your normal computer. Meaning it can compile code in any existing or created programming languages, not just blockchain specific languagesThere is also no more parachain auctions that everyone hated. Polkadot now uses agile cortime, removing the huge barrier to entry that parachain auctions created.Agile coretime means you don’t simply pay for every single transaction as you go. You buy chunks of computing power as you need, and anyone can buy them. Coretime guarantees you X computing power for X time. no gas wars, no barrier to entries, no pay per transaction.JAM also introduces asynchronous backing. This means blocks no longer need to be created in linear way. Say you want your code to run with 50ms block times.
